Donor Relations Officer

Hybrid/Remote – Will need to meet with donors in-person in the southwestern Connecticut region and attend events and meetings in both CT and RI periodically to complete the ongoing activities of the department, team, and position.

In support of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England’s mission, the Donor Relations Officer (DRO) is responsible for soliciting and managing a major gift portfolio of at least 100 donors and prospects to meet the diverse financial goals of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE). This position will focus on cultivating, stewarding and securing a portfolio of major donors ($10,000+) in the southwestern Connecticut area.
The successful candidate will be comfortable with a multi-faceted request to include PPSNE annual fund and restricted funds, PPVotes!CT c4, PPVotes!CT PAC, and other giving campaigns when necessary and will be responsible for raising at least $750k in c3, $50k in c4, and $10k in PAC dollars annually. They will collaborate with volunteers and PPSNE staff to achieve goals and increase donor engagement spending at least 50% of time interacting and meeting “face-to-face” with donors and prospects.
Responsibilities
Actively solicit major donors for PPSNE (c3), PPVotes! (c4) and PPVotes! PAC support through personal contact, building ongoing and long-term relationships and encouraging donors in their portfolio to increase their giving
Sets goals, on an annual basis and in consultation with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, for the planned solicitations of donors in their portfolio to support PPSNE, PPVotes!CT, and PPVotes!CT PAC
Create and implement personalized cultivation, stewardship and solicitation plans for 100+ major donors giving at least $7,500+ per calendar year to grow their giving utilizing prospect research, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
Research, prepare and write a variety of messages used to inform and attract donors around specific issues and/or giving opportunities. These may range from formal funding letters to personalized notes of appreciation
Serve as sponsorship fundraising lead for Rhode Island events and work with donors, volunteers, and the events and communications team to meet the event's fundraising and donor engagement goals
Drives and implements moves management for their own portfolio, documenting all contacts and next steps in CRM
Travels commensurate with expectations for fundraising activity donor contact and face-to-face meetings
Identify, create, and implement cultivation/volunteer opportunities, visits, and tours – as needed – to increase involvement for current and prospective donors
Seeks and builds relationships with potential major donors to grow the program and replace those lost through normal attrition
Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork; understand the interaction between this position and others with whom the position works directly and indirectly
Ensure all interactions incorporate PPSNE values of integrity, partnership, customer focus, communication and quality
Supports the organization’s mission and all of the reproductive health services offered including family planning services, health screenings, testing and treatment of STI's, birth control methods and abortion services
Support efforts of the organization’s DEI and “Race and” work to provide services that are culturally competent; take initiative to develop own awareness and knowledge of diversity and inclusion
Performs additional development-related activities/efforts at the request of their supervisor
Requirements
Passionate commitment to the mission, services, vision, and values of PPSNE
3+ years experience in campaign and/or major gift fundraising, or high-level customer service
At least 2 years of experience working with volunteers responsible for gift solicitation or high-end customers preferred
Demonstrated experience soliciting five-figure gifts, developing donor strategies, and effectively cultivating and stewarding major donors
Driven to create and achieve financial and fundraising goals, while maintaining the flexibility to adjust goals to meet the needs of the organization
Must have the flexibility to travel frequently, have current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation, and work occasional evenings and weekends
Proven ability to build deep and lasting relationships with a variety of internal partners, with whom no direct line supervision exists, as well as external individuals, from donors to board members
Commitment to a culture of feedback
Strong time management and organizational skills required
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
Familiarity with 501(c)(4) and PAC fundraising and regulations is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, liberal arts, or related field. Comparable experience may be considered
Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising CRMs preferred, especially Salesforce Personal Attributes

Salary Range and Employee Benefits
Salary Range; Min $59,985 Mid $79,980 Max $99,975 and is based on full years of experience.
